A festive scene of encounter, exchange, and togetherness.
Mariage is a unique celebration of connection through dance and new traditions. During open workshops in public spaces, you are invited to take part in dance, music, and scenography. Guided by Leon, artists and volunteers work together to create a universal and symbolic wedding celebration.
Everyone can contribute by shaping the choreography, designing the scenography, or making costumes themselves.
Mariage invites everyone – from cast members to accidental passersby – to take part in their own way, in a low-threshold and inclusive manner. Soon, the boundary between performers and audience fades, creating a shared experience that is accessible to all.
From parades through the streets to dress-up sessions and shared meals, Mariage is a practice in connection and creating space for unexpected and spontaneous encounters – always organic and authentic.
During Mariage and during the ateliers beforehand Lena Michel invited passers by to transform the space around them. People from the neighborhood would come by and bring their own fabrics to help decorate and think of ways how to create and take charge of the public space.
